Lotte Skale and her father run a hatchery for magical and endangered wyverns in southern Holan, one of the last regions of Asoleenya untouched by the tyrant King Bouldermaul and his infamous Firewraiths. In an era where magic and magical creatures are forbidden, their illegal actions are punishable by death.

When her father is called away on an emergency trip, Lotte is left to manage the hatchery on her own. Unfortunately, a Firewraith discovers their secret, and Lotte must use her wit and knowledge of magical creatures to protect her home and the wyverns she and her father have spent their lives restoring.
