Retirement should not be seen as a final destination, but rather a ticket for a new adventure. Retirement ushers in a new stage of life that can be full of exciting opportunities, a deepened sense of peace, and a renewed sense of purpose. But the journey can also bring on times of self-doubt, loss of community, and strain on relationships. If we are not careful we will not be prepared for some of the best days of our life. Using God's word, this book's aim is to help navigate the journey into retirement.

About the author: Joe Widick is a native of west Nashville. He received a bachelor's degree from David Lipscomb University in history and Bible with an emphasis in education. He followed this degree with a Masters in Administration and Supervision at Tennessee State University. Joe is married to the former Elaine Smith also from the Nashville area. They have been married for fifty-three years. They have been blessed with three children and six grandchildren. Joe has spent thirty-one years in education and twenty-one years in ministry. During his time in education and ministry he served twenty-four years as a Shepherd at the Maple Hill church of Christ. Joe, like many others, felt that retirement has a way of sneaking up on us. If we are not careful we will not be prepared for some of the best days of our life. One day in the fall as Joe set watching the geese fly over a lake, enjoying life and enjoying retirement, he received a call from a former student who owned a small publishing company. He asked that Joe consider a project of writing a book about being ready for retirement. It was out of that conversation that this book A Journey into Retirement was born.
