What Was It Really Like?: Behind-the-scenes military stories no one ever tells.

A raw and unfiltered look at military life, this book explores the daily realities of Soldiers and Sailors through personal experience-triumphs, failures, and near-death moments in both combat and non-combat situations. With over 22 combined years of honorable service in the Army and Navy-and having joined the military on the very day of the 9/11 attacks-Danny Lampkin shares true, never-before-told stories that challenge assumptions and ask one relentless question: Why? Drawn entirely from what he has lived and witnessed; this book offers an uncompromising perspective on service, self, and the state of today's young Soldiers.
