This book targets professionals with limited exposure to - or formal training in - accounting or related finance disciplines. The primary purpose of this book is to help managers and business owners from diverse professional and educational backgrounds to: (1) converse more effectively with their accounting and finance colleagues; (2) understand the structure and the elements of general-purpose financial statements, (3) identify both the usefulness and the limitations of accounting information; (4) prepare basic financial forecasts; and (5) make sense of commonly used decision-making models. Here are the changes that will be incorporated into the new edition: 1. The second half of Chapter 7 (Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis) will undergo a complete revision to make the illustration for multi-product environments more concise and technically accurate. 2. Minor typographical errors in Chapters 1-6 and Chapter 8 will be corrected. 3. Any required updates to Chapters 1-3 resulting from recent changes in GAAP and/or SEC regulations will be integrated (Chapters 4-8 are not impacted by changes in GAAP and/or SEC regulations).
