Through the Lens of Time
Shannon Frost GreensteinThrough the Lens of Time is comprised almost entirely of stories based upon historical proceedings and factual events. This collection is based on our communal lived experience and the all-too-human features we share in order to highlight how we shape history and history-in-the-making. Within, features retellings and fictional accounts of historical events like the Great San Francisco Earthquake, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, the execution of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, the Challenger Explosion, the 1996 Everest Disaster, the 2004 Indonesian tidal wave, and more. The stories examine the reality of life in our society as well as the quantum possibilities with which we might someday be faced. The intent is to spur the ideas around real-world circumstances and events to theorize the directions in which humanity may evolve, revealing the logical consequences of how we all travel through the time we are given. Through the Lens of Time considers where we, as a society, have been, how we currently exist in the world, and what heights we may someday reach, utilizing aspects of pop culture and geopolitics to remind us all how very human we will always remain.
