Thinking on Life: Exploring One Perspective of a Christian Worldview
Donald L. LogstonThinking on Life is a fresh look at topics and themes from orthodox Christian theology that seeks to connect the more academic theology with a realistic, experiential outlook for living. It identifies and explores rational ideas against a context of real life, seeking connection through the author's own experiences. There are some twists and turns that are meant to invoke thought, and while the author freely admits that several areas are open to interpretation, it is hoped that the thought-provoking ideas will spur others to a deeper thought on their own Christian worldviews. Anger can be provoked when cherished fundamental ideas that have not been rationally supported are challenged. It is hoped that by appealing to a rational basis for our faith, anger can be dispelled and dialogue and exploration of ideas can take root. This is not meant to be confrontational or critical. The book explores a framework for theological ideas in a way that allows the various ideas to be considered in relevance to each other. In the end, it examines some alternate constructs to illustrate the potential for assessing ideas against our own Christian worldview. As a final outcome, it is hoped that through engaging with this kind of rational analysis, we can hold fast to our core essentials but still engage with others who may hold other views with compassion and understanding instead of judgment. Christianity succeeds because of the superiority of its ideals and foundation, and we should not shy away from examining that in the light of rational thought.
