After the events of The Rescue, Snowy, Minty, and Goldie are ready to sail someplace warm. They leave 1670s England on their super ship, The Gillfish 2, and head to the Caribbean in Book 4 of the Snowy, Minty & Goldie Adventure Series. But neither the weather nor the reception is warm.

They arrive in what's now known as Barbados, only to discover it's entrenched in a bloody conflict. Like his ancestors, spiritual healer Kali practices medicine using the island's abundant flora and fauna. He's frustrated by Mayor Jameson and his settlers who've begun to build and encroach on this sacred land. To fight them off, Kali uses his magic to summon an army of human toads.

But those aren't the only fantastical creatures in this story. When Snowy, Minty, and Goldie separate from the crew to explore the island, they discover spiders who can talk, change size, and spin magical webs.

As the battle between Kali and Jameson intensifies, the trio and the ship's crew are trapped in a warehouse near the dock, surrounded by the toad men. Their only chance to escape is to use their ingenuity and the items in the warehouse.

The Toad Men of the Caribbean features science, smarts, and a soaring conclusion.
