The Racist in Apartment 203
Norman MortonI started this novel in response to a new tenant at our apartment building in Arlington, Virginia. It was startling to see an individual so caught up in racist hate that several old-timers in the building were alarmed at the overt hatred directed at them-these same people who would otherwise welcome him with open arms and, perhaps, bring a cake to his door. He would deliberately walk right past you without ever speaking and not enter an entrance/exit door held open for him! I imagined thousands of characters just like him all over America who are psychologically distressed and take out their frustrations and hatred toward all Americans, even women.
This novel, then, is dedicated toward these individuals.
The novel follows their racist antics out in public and even inside the building, and it describes the human flaws in each of them but also their diabolical schemes to sow discord everywhere.
