Millionaire Meldrum Strange is motivated by one desire, the need to acquire and exploit. It is almost a disease-it boils in his veins! And what he wants is Cottswold Ommony's forest. The trees are Ommony's life's work, and he has no intention of giving them up to the arrogant and rapacious American. And to that end, he devises a complicated plot to compromise Strange and prevent the destruction of his forest.

Ommony enlists the reluctant aid of Jeff Ramsden, who works for Strange, as well as photographer Charley Wear, the beautiful Zelmira, the neighboring Rajah of Chota Pegu, and the most dubious ally of all, the self-serving Chullunder Ghose. If Ommony's plan works, Strange will be put in such a compromising position that he will be forced to give up his forestry obsession. But no plan is perfect, particularly one that relies on the reliability of Chullunder Ghose.

The Marriage of Meldrum Strange is a delightful departure from Talbot Mundy's usual adventure stories-a comic farce filled with devious plots and myriad misapprehensions.
