William Robertson Nicoll founded and served as editor of The British Weekly beginning in 1886. The periodical addressed a broad range of issues and enjoyed a large readership for nearly fifty years. From the publication's founding, Nicoll made a habit of writing tributes to notable figures in the Christian world.
