Danica 'Dani' Mae Mitchell isn't like most teenagers. She liked school, has parents obsessed with classical music, and, most of all hated attention. But that didn't stop her parents.

Dani was born different. She has a rare condition where her brain works in mysterious ways. Especially when she listens to music like her favorite band, HZRDS. She sees auras, streets taste like lemons, and letters are color-coded. She has synesthesia.

But when Dani's parents realize how special her gift is, they want to use her for financial exploitation. While she tries to stop her parents from making her into a prodigy, Dani begins to have visions of a boy she's never seen before.
