In his early twenties Edgar Thomson moved from Philadelphia to Georgia to become the Chief Engineer of the newly-formed Georgia Rail Road. Thomson was in complete control of the building of the railroad from Augusta to Terminus, soon to be Atlanta. Ninety-five percent of this book is fact, with the other five percent added to connect the dots. Thomson could have amassed a fortune to match his famous cronies, but he was not a greedy man; he was quiet, gentle, and humble. Few people in Georgia know Thomson's story. Here is the Georgia Rail Road and the Edgar Thomson story from 1833 through 1845.
