The ordinary life of Hazel Atlas vanishes instantly on the night of the accident.

Thrown from the path of a swerving vehicle, Hazel is miraculously spared. Her older brother Emmett is not so lucky. Right before she passes out, Hazel catches sight of the stranger who pushed her out of the way, a dark hooded figure with glowing hands. But of the two, why save her?
