Maya Clark always does what her family wants.

And what her family wants is to turn the old schoolhouse across the street into a restaurant, so that they can keep their small town motel from going under. But before they can buy the building, it's snatched up by handsome newcomer Tanner Sullivan. So Maya sets out to convince him to give the old schoolhouse back.

But Tanner has his own plans. After a childhood of pain and fear, he's ready to turn the building into a coffee shop that's cozy and safe. If he can do that (and also get Maya to stop hating him), then maybe he can find the sense of belonging he's been searching for.
