Haegue Yang: The Great Forgetfulness

Transforming industrial objects into large-scale installations, Yang's assemblages elevate the micro-traumas of the individual to the scale of national macro-traumas

Based on the eponymous 2024 commission by artist Haegue Yang (born 1971) for the National Sculpture Factory in Cork, The Great Forgetfulness addresses the complex relationship between individual and collective forgetting in societies whose history is shaped by colonization and trauma.
