Dig and Dump are an unstoppable duo at the construction site, digging, scooping, filling, and dumping. But one day, Dump finds himself in a slump and Dig is assigned a new partner...will Dig be able to help his friend feel like himself again?

At first, Dig doesn't understand Dump's glum mood, and gets reassigned with a newer, shinier dump truck partner. Things just aren't the same without Dump, though, and Dig realizes Dump just needs him to be there for him: removing some boulders from his bed, pouring oil in his engine, and perhaps most importantly, just sitting by his side.

Dig and Dump reminds young readers that it's okay to feel sad sometimes, and models ways to support a friend who might be having a bad day. Children ages 2 to 6 are in the process of building important social-emotional skills like recognizing and understanding emotions, reading facial cues, and interpreting body language. Dig and Dump affirms that sadness is a natural part of the human condition, and that sometimes, you just need a friend to lean on until you feel like yourself again. Young construction vehicle fans will love the vibrant illustrations of a busy construction site at all times of day.
