Different Seconds
Richard AppleIncluding themes of imagination, Apple's poems evoke grand imagery. In the selection, "I An," he writes, / Watching flames shoot up high / Sparks flying up / Smoke choking the air / All within in my fire hut / Just watching the fire roar / Reminds me of something I once heard / Every bright orange storm / Represents only one thing from the past. The poem, "F.L.A.T.," describes some of Apple's Canadian terrain. / Watching prairie grass roll in the wind / The clouds rushing across the sky / Groundhogs playing in a field / Standing on top of the world / ... / The sun sets down beside me / Big round and orange / A herd of cattle, moving in front / It looks like a post card.
"Different Seconds" reveals a wide range of human emotions while conveying life lessons and stirring imaginations.
