This special US Edition of Captain Cannabis No. 1 brings the original 1977 Captain Cannabis comic book into the 21st century with a special bonus interview with legendary comic book artist and writer Jim Steranko.

Creator Verne Andru painstakingly digitized, cleaned up and airbrushed the original 16 black-and-white Captain Cannabis pages giving them a vibrance and polish that makes the story seem to jump from the pages. He took the same care with the story, taking several continuity passes ensuring this epic story starts with a bang! And what a story! In this issue we meet young Hal Lighter and sweetheart Marion Jones as they become entangled in a tale of mystery and intrigue spanning time and space. After she is abducted, a mysterious glowing reefer transforms reluctant hero Hal into Captain Cannabis, a Super-Sensi on a mission.

Filling out this special edition is one of the few in-depth interviews given by legendary Captain America and Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. artist Jim Steranko. Originally published in "The Canadian Graphic Collector #4" during 1978, Verne Andru attended the opening press conference for a major art gallery's first-of-its-kind show honoring Steranko's comic book work. Named one of the five most influential artists of all time, Steranko earned acclaim for his innovations in sequential art drawing inspiration from psychedelic, optical art, graphic design and photomontage; his work became a major influence on contemporary artists. Once crowds dispersed Verne sat down with Steranko for an exclusive one-on-one chat; he was extremely generous with his time, thoughts and words of advice about Verne's work, including this Captain Cannabis story, which is more than enough reason for its inclusion herein.
