Follow the intense life of the Olsen family-a kindhearted, hard-working group of people. When son Louis Jr. finds himself amid a dangerous world, it's anyone's guess how, when, and who will pull him out of the game.

In Southwest Detroit during the mid-1980s, the Olsen family attempts to live an incident-less life in the midst of drugs, gangs, and violence in their neighborhood.

However, a devastating family tragedy befalls the Olsens, leaving each member to discern for themselves where the next right step is. For 15-year-old son Louis Jr., the path mars itself in a cloak of crime-Detroit's drug game. Changing his name from Louis Jr. to "King," the young man is thrust into a world where bullets, bitches, and bad guys come hand over fist. Despite danger at every turn, King learns the savvy and dangerous ways of the streets to live up to the persona his father has decreed upon him.

Through puberty, treachery, prison, and gunplay, King struggles to keep his life under control. He believes he has a handle on taking his family to the dream of a tranquil suburban life-but discovers that leaving the game is a path that maybe only God can pull him away from.

Will King find his way out of the game without everyone he loves dying, or is his story going to be the next Olsen family tragedy?

The Unclear Path is an evocative, moving, and necessary novel for teens today. The lovable cast of characters creates a relatable narrative about growing up amid violence, choosing your path, and understanding your role in the greater world.

Twists will keep readers on the edges of their seats as they live side-by-side with King, the Olsen family, and their neighbors of southwest Detroit.
