Nalania and her family are hated across four different kingdoms. It always ends in the same eventuality: they're declared lowborn drifters-or worse yet, thieving gypsy scum-and the villagers refuse to do business with them, forcing them to move.

She thought being at the wrong end of the social ladder would keep her from realizing her dream of becoming a witch. Witches and warlocks are just as discriminated against as her people. Why purposefully make their situation worse?

Over the years, they've worn the same unraveling shoes, ate bugs and grits, and moved whenever the townspeople stop buying their crops. It always happens. But Nalania desperately wants to fight against the discrimination. She wants to give her family the life they've always deserved in the new realm of Gaidenfell.

But then the king enacts a new decree, forcing a curfew on the lowborn of his kingdom-no leaving after nightfall, no exceptions. Nalania's first reaction is to scream. Her second reaction is to defy it.

So, Nalania and her little sister leave their village and venture into Cloverbottom after sunset, stepping foot into a dark forest teeming with creatures spawned by twisted magic. There, they find themselves face-to-face with the king's violent coven of witches and warlocks. They have a split second to make a life-altering decision: die, or murder half of the king's coven in self-defense while trying to get away-using their family's brand of wild, ancestral magic. But do they really have a choice?

Nalania is sure the king will discover what happened, and when he does, he will exact his revenge.

Now Nalania has to train to be a witch.

The clock's ticking. She must learn enough about magic to face the king's most powerful witches and warlocks to save her sister. Can she win the race against time? She would rather try than face the alternative. Her family means the absolute world to her.

Prismatic: The Nonesuch is an emotional young adult fantasy with several twists and turns. It takes readers through a rich historical fantasy setting filled with romance, realistic characters, and plenty of witchy elements like spellcasting, potion-making, and even ritualistic magic.

Suitable for ages 13 and up. This book includes violence and some strong language.
