Valuing Ourselves as we Grow Older is a thought-provoking exploration of who we are becoming as elders while we take on the challenges of aging in the 21st century. If you have ever caught yourself saying, "I don't feel that old!" you will find much to identify within these pages, as well as lots of unique takes on how different aging is compared to what our parents and grandparents went through. This is essential reading for Boomers as well as readers who are wondering about what to do with Mom and Dad. You will appreciate the nuances, humor, and personal examples that Dr. Flett brings to this topic. In addition to being a Boomer herself, Dr. Flett has worked with aging adults since she was in her teens, and spent 30+ years in private practice as a psychologist helping elders. You will recognize yourself, and see aging in a new and different light from how "seniors" are depicted in the media. Challenge your ideas about what aging has in store for you!

Mary L. Flett, PhD is an author who used to be a psychologist. In addition to her writing, she is a nationally-recognized speaker and has led seminars on aging across the country. In this first book in her series, Aging with Finesse, she shares her insights and wisdom gleaned from over 30 years of working with elders as a psychologist and a lifetime of mentoring by older friends and relatives. She is the Executive Director of the Center for Aging and Values and is the founder of Five Pillars of Aging, where she offers seminars online and in-person on aging better and aging well.
