December 7, 1941

The Japanese attacked the United States fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, without provocation. Afterward, young men and women signed up in droves to fight the enemy wherever they were sent. The small seaside community of Smugglers Cove was no different.

Early in 1942, seven of Smugglers Cove's finest signed up together to go to war, knowing they may never return. Not long before that, a young socialite named Sarah Harper vanished days before the young men were to ship off. The sheriff organized a search party and searched the entire town; however, no trace of her was found. Days later, her body was discovered on a beach by the nearby lighthouse.

For weeks, the sheriff tracked down leads and talked to several people, including Christof Wolf, a German immigrant who operated the lighthouse. However, it became apparent that the killer may never be known. People talked about the murder for months until it slowly disappeared into obscurity as more pressing matters arose concerning the war. When the war finally ended, young men returned home by the thousands, including the survivors of the Smugglers Cove Seven, who came home to much fanfare. However, by then, the murder of Sarah Harper was all but forgotten except by a few.

Some eighty years later, descendants of Christof Wolf bought the lighthouse and turned it into a bed and breakfast. During the renovations, workers found a set of journals hidden away that may solve the murder of Sarah Harper once and for all, but not everyone is happy about the discovery.

As Luke Wolf, Christof's descendant, along with his wife, Lisa, began a search that could once and for all clear his family name and answer the question of who killed Sarah Harper, it became very apparent that some people in town don't want to dredge up the past and for good reason
