About the Book

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A YAKSHA, EXILED ON EARTH FOR MILLENNIA, IS ROPED IN TO SOLVE AN EARTHLY KIDNAPPING?

Exiled. Despised. Unrepentant.

Banished from the celestial court for an unspeakable crime, Akran, once a powerful yaksha, spends his days in the city of Mumbai, drinking cheap rum and pretending to be human.

When a young girl is abducted, Akran finds himself reluctantly dragged into the investigation. But, as he soon discovers, this is not a simple case of kidnapping-villainous thugs, gods and demons are all involved. And an ancient evil is returning to the world.

What are the secrets from Akran's own past that threaten his present? Why are celestial forces out to wreak havoc on his beloved city? Are Akran and his friends a match for them? With the clock ticking, Akran must act quickly or all that he holds dear may soon turn to dust.

Rohan Monteiro's Shadows Rising brings to life an unlikely hero-irreverent, witty and foul-mouthed-who seems to not have a care in the world. Until someone crosses a line.

About the Author

Rohan Monteiro is an amateur chess and poker player, a board gamer, a comic book nerd, a keen consumer of content related to sci-fi, fantasy, mythology and history, a tsundokuist, an indoor climber, an open water scuba diver, a strategy and market research consultant, a life enthusiast and last but not the least a dad. His travels have taken him to over fifty countries, ranging from the world's highest free-range mountain in Tanzania to shark cage diving off the coast of South Africa, to fishing for piranhas in the Amazon and warding off advances from an amorous orangutan in Borneo.

Shadows Rising is an exciting, fresh and unique take on timeless Indian myths told from the POV of a protagonist who might just be a lot more involved in the epics than he cares to admit.
