Santa Fe, New Mexico, 1987. Local teacher, Laura Barnes, takes a summer job at the J.D. Canon Gallery. She soon discovers that she is replacing a Cherokee Indian woman who was found dead after leaving the gallery. The Albuquerque FBI office gets a tip that Indigenous burial items may be selling for profit at the same location. Undercover agent, Marc Bennett, investigates. With the help of the local police and Laura Barnes, they unravel evidence of crimes committed in the popular high desert art community.
