Eyo, 10-year-old girl, is taken from Nigeria to the UK for a better life. The novel follows her five year journey as she's passed from one 'guardian' to another, and her attempts to escape. Eventually, she is rescued, only to realise that in even in freedom, society demands an exacting price from those it should protect.

Eyo was nominated for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize.
