He was a major influence on first- and second-generation \u003cstrong\u003eRomantic poets such as Wordsworth, Keats, Coleridge\u003c\/strong\u003e, etc. He also made an impact on the development of landscape painting in the \u003cstrong\u003eearly 19\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003csup\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eth\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/sup\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e century through his influence on J.M.W. Turner\u003c\/strong\u003e.
